History, along with it’s evil nature, doesn’t fully repeat itself; otherwise, we might recognize its return. It mutates.
In honor of my Lithuanian friends, I recommend this account from the last century that shouldn’t be forgotten in this one. The rise of the technocratic state, wherein all is governed and regulated, carries human risks that only those on the margins may see coming.
Remember these lessons, dear Lithuanians. Teach your offspring. It won’t be long before people in other places need to hear these stories as if they happened yesterday.
