Politics and politicians are often only the oddest caricatures of real people. We shouldn’t ever mistake them as a fair representative of the normal working class of a country. The images and incidents we see in the news may be true, but it rarely depicts the whole story about the majority of people who live there.
Overall, the news media does a chronically poor job in covering their home countries and the majority of their people in a fair way. As a journalist, I was asked countless times, “Why don’t you guys ever cover us except when the news is terrible and dramatic?”
If I didn’t know better, and from what I see and hear on television news, I’d never visit the United States again for a very long time. At the moment, I have my doubts.
